Digital Illustration

q Post your tutorial to your blog

q Draw a cartoon character that is school appropriate

q Scan this and import to Illustrator

q Follow the tutorial tips to turn your cartoon character into vector clipart

Req. for Mini Project 1

q Use the pen tool to create shapes

q Include facial features (ie. eyes, eyebrows, mouth, nose, ears, etc.)

q Use the shape tool and distort using the “white selector” (arrow)

q Use OBJECT à PATH à OUTLINE STROKES

q Use the PATHFINDER

q Use the GRADIENT

q Create a bolded edge (duplicating shapes and turning them solid black)

q Include text and a text bubble

Still Life Images
  • five images minimum
  • one image demonstrating back-lighting
  • one image demonstrating directional lighting 
  • one image demonstrating multi-directional lighting 
  • one silhouette 
  • one image demonstrating incandescent light
  • one image demonstrating flood light

Portrait Images
  • five images minimum 
  • one posed male model
  • one posed female model 
  • one headshot (upper body only)
  • one full body shot (sitting)
  • one image demonstrating masculine head tilt
  • one image demonstrating feminine head tilt
  • one group shot 

Internet Search - Masters

Rules for the Masters Search

12 Masters in Total

  • Every box needs to be completed - no empty boxes!
  • Birth/Death dates years only is fine 
  • Famous For: they developed something new, they developed a new technique, they invented a new a type of camera, they invented a new type of format etc. 
  • Type of Photography: landscapes, portraits, fashion, science etc. 
  • B&W or Color: black and white, color or sepia 
  • Biographical Information: 3 - 5 sentences (no copying from the internet) 
  • Description of Work: 3 - 5 sentences (no copying) 
  • at least 3 photo samples
